Gratitude is the Best Attitude

“A merry heart does good, like medicine.” (Proverbs 17:22)

Chances are you’ve probably heard that before.

But have you heard that a merry heart — being joyful, grateful, etc — is actually scientifically proven to improve sleep, mood, and resilience?

Have you also heard that the worst thing you can do for your brain is having a bad attitude?

You know what else?

The rest of the verse says “but a broken spirit dries the bones.”

So ya, it’s proven that having a merry heart (good attitude) is good for you!

But you already knew all that. Being others-centered brings such joy! And keeping God in the very middle it all brings the most joy of all! ๐Ÿ˜Š

You probably could guess where this is going. ๐Ÿ˜…

Guys, I am so embarrassed! Did you see that? If you read an email from me with the title ‘?????????,’ congratulations! You just: 1) embarrassed me; 2) gave me a good laugh; and 3) got a glimpse into how I write my posts. ๐Ÿ˜‚ If there’s something I need to write, but don’t quite know how to word it yet, I just write a bunch of question marks. ๐Ÿ˜… If you read the post, you would have found the unedited me — all the misplaced commas, incorrect spellings, fragment sentences, and a bunch of runoffs too. Anyway…. enough said on my writing tendencies… ๐Ÿ˜…

Lately, I have been trying to use my time more effectively. And, in case any of y’all are looking to do the same, I thought I’d share my best tips. I hope they boost your productivity too, so that you can run your race more effectively! โค๏ธ

Hey Princess!

In Our Own Sight… Learning to See Yourself the Way God Sees You

Do you ever do something clumsy and tell yourself, ‘Ugh I’m so stupid.’ Or say something dumb and proceed to lecture yourself on how you need to control your mouth?

Though it’s not good, a lot of people have and do fill themselves with toxic opinions of themselves (Myself included).

Even the Israelites did it.

You Are Positively Treasured!

Remember when Moses sent out the 12 spies to check out the Land of Canaan?

The spies found the land overflowing with blessings — a land flowing with milk and honey. Not only did they have ‘milk and honey’ but it was flowing with milk and honey. It was full of riches and blessings!

It was also full of big men — literally giants!

So the report when the spies returned?

While You’re Waiting….

Who likes waiting?

*No one raises their hand*

**I didn’t raise it either**

Let’s be real. Nobody likes to wait. We all know what we want and we want it NOW. Just think of a child — one that would cry and cry and cry until he finally gets what he wants…

Years have passed, but our desire to get what we want now, has definitely not!

You might be waiting for a new grade, to graduate, to get a job or a drivers license. You could be waiting for your future husband to come waltzing in or a prayer to be answered. Whatever it is you’re waiting for, though, I just want to encourage you not to waste the waiting. Rather, cherish it!

I want to share a couple ways to do that…

It’s Not Just You

You’ve heard the story…. though probably with different names and specifics.

Your friend, Katie, grew up in a large family — eight sisters and three brothers. She was the sweetest person you could hope to call ‘friend.’ She was caring, compassionate, a great listener, and was always ready to help you when you needed it.

For that reason, she had a TON of friends.

That made her sisters a bit (no, very) jealous! After all, who wouldn’t be jealous when some else is everyone’s favorite.

So, even as she was trying to care for her sisters, they plotted to send Katie away… like far away… a whole different country. And they didn’t just send her away, they sent her away as an uncompensated servant — a slave.

Keep Seeking + Exercises in the Word

Do you ever feel like you’re trying SO hard to be close to God, but you just don’t feel Him?

Everyone has ‘dry’ seasons in their walk with God — a wilderness time. It’s hard. You may be seeking Him all the time — reading your Bible, praying, going to church — yet not feel His presence in return.

I just want to encourage you… KEEP SEEKING! God has not abandoned you! There could be a number of reasons you don’t feel Him — maybe God’s testing you, or there’s some sin in your life– but it’s never because He has given up on you! So, princess, keep seeking.

Jesus promised, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

In the original text, it is written in the continual — knock and keep knocking; seek and keep seeking; knock and keep knocking.

So, sister, keep seeking!

Pouring your heart out in prayer, fellowshipping/worshipping at church, and digging into God’s Word are great ways to do that! Here are some other creative ideas too:

I Was Wrong…

Hey Princess!

I have to apologize…

My goal for this blog is to ‘Encourage God’s Girls.’ I hope that all of my posts and everything on my blog does that.

However, last week I wrote a post entitled ‘Hand Lettering Recents — In Which You Learn How Terrible I Am.’

Let’s just say, that title could not possibly be encouraging to y’all. It doesn’t accomplish my goal for my blog. (Much less, trashing some of my work…)

Further, even if I don’t see the beauty in something I do, that doesn’t mean God can’t use it….

Do you want more reasons I wish I hadn’t titled that post that way?

Well, I just wanted to say to all who read that post and came away less happy/encouraged, I am very sorry! I hope that all my posts in the future will not be like that!

Also, I have since revised that post and added some new pictures, so if you so desire, check it out! ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope you have a wonderful day, my friend! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Christians Beware…. + New Polls

There are some things in the Bible that are really fun to readโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s fun to read that โ€œAll things will work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.โ€

Itโ€™s refreshing to read that God hears and answers our prayers.

Itโ€™s easy to read that God is faithful to keep is promises!ย

Some passages in the Bible aren’t so easy to read, though. And some are downright scary. But just as important as it is to be refreshed with such passages, itโ€™s equally important to read the harder passages.ย

My church recently started a study in the book of Hebrews and I learned that it gives some pretty heavy warnings. Hearing them made me examine my life and motives. So I thought that I would share them with yโ€™all, in hopes that you too would be encouraged to hold fast to your faith and live wholeheartedly for Him! Always!

Are you ready?ย

Christian’s and the Controversial ‘P’ Word

Have you ever noticed that people seem to enjoy taking their opinions or preferences to the extremes?

You may be positively obsessed with the Oakland A’s. Meanwhile, your friend thinks they are the worst baseball team on planet earth.

Perhaps you may say that cats and dogs are equally amazing, while another may say that only dogs deserve to have the title of ‘pet.’

A less lighthearted example: One person may say that a wall is effective in keeping a country safe, while another will say you’re racist if you think that.

You get the point.

People take their opinions to the extreme!

Well, Christians do the same thing. And the debate seems to be especially heated around the Christian’s involvement with the uncomfortable ‘P’ word.

Don’t Worry + Giveaway!!!

WARNING: this is another fairly long post… I hope its well worth your time!

If you’re like me, I’m sure you are well acquainted with the ‘what if’ game. You know, coming up with unlikely scenarios that make you worry about the simplest things.

Gary Richmond sure was. As are most zookeepers are, according to him.

In his book ‘A View From the Zoo’ he recounts that zookeepers are ‘olympian quality What-Ifers.’ All of the zookeepers there were particularly fearful of the 950 lb Polar Bear, Ivan (who was aggressive, killing 2 polar bears and taking every opportunity to swipe at a keeper).

So at lunch break one day, they played their traditional ‘what if’ games, eventually turning the game towards Ivan.

You’re A Steward–Be a Good One!

If you’re a teen aged girl, you’re probably like me, in that I am constantly bashing my abilities. I don’t see my gifts or talents as good or useful or anything else positive. I’m constantly putting down my strengths and exaggerating my weaknesses.

I don’t think that’s an honest way of examining yourself. The most honest way of viewing yourself the way God sees you — as His precious princess.

Yet, despite all my efforts to ‘rewire’ my brain to see myself the way God sees me, I continue (sadly) to degrade all the gifts that God has given me.

Just imagine how sad God must be when He sees you do.

Think, what if you bought your best friend a present. It cost you a fortune– say, perhaps, a brand new car, let’s say a Mercedes. But as soon as your friend saw it, she started pointing out features that were missing, blemishes on the paint, and explaining that she prefers Porsches.

God has given you many gifts, including talents. He has blessed me with many gifts.

Furthermore, we are to give thanks in all things, recognizing ‘that every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights.’ (James 1:17)

That said, when I was reading in 1 Peter, it stuck out to me when Peter wrote:

โ€as each one has received a gift, minister to one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.โ€

“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

ALL of us have received a gift. EVERY ONE!! Guess what? That includes you! And me! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

So don’t undermine your talents! They are a gift from God!

Not only that, but Peter says to ‘minister it to each other.’ Translation: Use the gifts God has given you for His work.

Also, consider the fact that Peter says that we are to be ‘good stewards of the manifold grace God.’ We are stewards of the gifts that God has graciously given to us.

It’s just like the parable Jesus tells of the master who gives his servants each a different amount of money. Some were given a lot, while other weren’t. Remember what happened to the servant given the least? He buried it. He was called wicked and striped of what he was given.

A good steward takes what he has and uses it to multiply it for his master.

A bad steward takes what he has and is too fearful to invest it.

Use your gift, princess! God gave it to you for a reason. Be a good steward!

Also don’t complain about your Mercedes! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Are you like me, in that you have trouble honestly recognizing your talents? What are you’re thoughts on stewardship?

Have a wonderful day! โค๏ธ

Receiving and Responding — Part Seven of a Biblical Study on Prayer

Why Isn’t God Answering Me — Part Six of A Biblical Study on Prayer

Whew! This series is almost over. ๐Ÿ˜” Only one week left. How are ya’ll feeling? Have you found it helpful? Loving it? Hating it? Finding it meh?

This week’s topic is one that is maybe kinda touch? No, uncomfortable? Yes! It can definitely be uncomfortable.

Because we’ve all had prayers that ‘haven’t been answered.’ Or, at least, not the way we what them to be.

And sometimes He makes us wait. (or should I say, allows us to wait). More often than we would like, too! Why is that? Why does it feel like I ask Him and ask Him and ask Him again, yet never seem to find the answer?

That’s a tough question. Though it’s impossible to know God’s reasoning for every decision He makes, I think it is clear that God does have a purpose for the time we spend waiting or why our prayers seem to be going unheard.

Before we discuss a few reasons why our prayers might be hindered, let me first say, that God promises us that He will hear our prayers. He may grant us our request, or He might have an even grander plan for you. Either way, prayer is a win-win.

In more than one sense.

  1. Our prayers are inhibited if we are practicing sin.

If we aren’t treating people right, than we cannot expect God to hear our prayers.

“Because of your sins, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.” — Isaiah 59:2

“If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” — Psalm 66:18

Having sin in your life and not turning from it is a form of idolatry — placing your desires above God. Therefore, if we are not actively trying to work sin out of our lives, it is not surprising that our prayers will be hindered.

2. Our prayer can be hindered by a lack of persistence.

God says to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17). We are to ask and keep asking (Matthew 7:7).

In a way, a lack of persistence, is not only disobedience (because God calls us to pray continually), but can also illustrate a lack of faith (saying that God isn’t going to fulfill His promise to answer our prayers or that He’s unable to. see Matt. 7:7)

3. God may be making us patient.

Typically, at least for me, we pray the most when we are in a pinch. We (I) pray with the most fervency when I am desperate. In great need for help. But its in those times that we learn patience.

“For we know that the testing of our faith produces patience.” — James 1:3

I must say, when you pray for something for a long time and never see the results of the prayer, that definitely can test our faith. But hold fast. Keep praying! God will turn your situation into something BEAUTIFUL! โค๏ธ

4. We may not be getting an answer because we’re asking for something for our own pleasures.

If you aren’t seeking God’s will, but merely using God as a means of getting what you want, it’s no surprise that your prayers are going unanswered!

James sure thought so.

“…you do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your own pleasures.” — James 4:2-3

The point of our prayers (as I discussed in this post) should not be to gain things. We want to ask. But we should make sure that our motives are right. That’s not to say you can’t ask for something, but the thing should not be the ultimate goal.

5. Finally, God may not be answering your prayer because He has a better plan.

God knows the future and the past. He knows your situation. He knows your desires. And He knows how to make all your circumstances to make it all for the better.

So sometimes God may not be answer our prayers because He has a better purpose. Maybe He has better timing. He’ll make all things work together for your good!

So princess, if you’re feeling discouraged because your prayers haven’t been answered they way you want them to be, keep praying! Keep praying, keep praying, keep praying. Persistence honors God. So, keep praying! (That was a lot of times of saying keep praying. ๐Ÿ˜‰ But keep praying! :))

But also examine yourself, make sure that you’re not blocking your own prayers from coming to fruition.

Princess, remember, that ultimately, God knows all things, and work them ALL out for YOUR GOOD! So be encouraged! โค๏ธ

I hope that your prayers would be effective!

Have a fantabulous day! ๐Ÿ™‚

Love in Christ, Noelle Rose

BTW, as always, PLEASE feel free to share your thoughts in the comments! I LOVE hearing your input! ๐Ÿ™‚

Model Prayers — Part Five of a Biblical Study on Prayer

You’ve heard MANY times. You probably have it memorized:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed by your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.” — Matthew 9-13

If you’re like me, I bet you just skipped that part, cuz you already know it. Am I right? ๐Ÿ˜‚

All joking aside, it’s so familiar that I often just glaze over this portion of scripture, though it is VERY powerful!

So, what’s so powerful about this?

First off, I want to say, that I don’t think that Jesus is saying that every time we pray, we have to use these exact words, though it can be good to just pray this prayer. I believe this is a model prayer, meaning we can learn how to pray, as Jesus says in Matthew.

That said, if this is a model prayer, how are we supposed to ‘customize’ this to our prayers?

People extrapolate different things from this text, but I think that most people can agree that there are four different parts to this prayer, that we can/should adopt when we pray.

Praise — (“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name”)

Repent — (“Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors.”)

Ask — (“Give us this day our daily bread,” “Deliver us from evil,”)

Yield — (“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”)

When praying, remember and recall the things that God has done for you! “Praise Him for His mighty deeds!! (Psalms 150:2)

Reflect on your life and consider what sin is in your life. And ask for forgiveness! Turn from it!

Ask…. whew… I don’t know that we need to be reminded of this one! Usually, we only ask for stuff in our prayers, but that misses a lot of the point of prayer. We don’t pray to get stuff necessarily, though that’s part of prayer as we see in this model prayer, we pray because we love God and want His will for our life. (If this is the first post you’ve read in this series, I have a whole post on this subject. You can find it here.)

Which leads perfectly into the last part of prayer, which is yield. Earnestly desire that God’s will would be done — perfectly… as it is in heaven! Above all, ask for God’s will to be done! It’s interesting to note, that the first request in the Lord’s Prayer, is the request that God’s will would be done. So Jesus shows us that we are to surrender it ALL to Him! Even before He asks for forgiveness, He demonstrates a desire that GOD’S WILL –not our will — be done! What an important lesson! (But what a hard one to fulfill!!) I also have a full post on this topic — of your motives in prayer — that you can find here.

As awesome as the Lord’s Prayer is, I sort of love Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane even more. Do you know that one?

“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” — Matthew 26: 39

Did you pass over that one too? JK!! Now you’re on your guard aren’t you? Now are you gonna go to all the linked posts? HAHA๐Ÿ˜œ

The reason I love this model prayer so much, is because it shows us that we don’t need to have all sorts of fancy, spiritual words in it. Jesus simply makes a request and surrenders to whatever God has for Him.

That’s the attitude we need in prayer.

Also, notice, that the prayer is SUPER short, but it’s supremely sincere. The Bible says that Jesus fell on His face, when He prays this prayer.

You know what else I just noticed, to my knowledge, ALL of the prayers Jesus prayer (which are, therefore, model prayers) contain some various of the words/meaning, ‘Your will be done.’

When we pray, princess, we are to first surrender the outcome to whatever God’s will is. “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose.” Knowing that, it is much easier to submit to whatever God has for you, which is a reminder I need QUITE frequently!

I hope you have a wonderful day, princess!

Motives Matter — Part Four of A Biblical Study on Prayer

Hello Princess!

I thought I scheduled this for Monday, but I guess I didn’t…. whoops! Well, I hope you’re encouraged by it!

Prayer is not about saying words. Or asking for things. Or getting anything from it at all.

It’s about God. It’s about the all-powerful, loving Creator of the universe.

Keeping your mind on Him is what makes prayer powerful. Accepting His will for your life. Asking for His will in your life to be done! That’s what makes prayer powerful! It’s your mindset.

The Story of Moses

His life is a story of power, poverty, and leading God’s people.

Moses grew up in the home of the king of Egypt — the Pharaoh’s son. He led an army. He had an education. And he presumably would become the next king of Egypt.

But one day, he saw an Egyptian beating up a Hebrew — one of his people — and he grew troubled. So looked around and, seeing no one, killed the Egyptian. Eventually, however, his sin was discovered and the Pharaoh sought to kill him.

So he fled.

And then led sheep for 40 years!

Until one day, he saw a bush on fire, though it wasn’t burning up. He stopped and heard the voice of God, saying “Moses, Moses.”

And he responded, “Here I am”

Then God told Him how we saw the suffering and oppression of the Hebrews. He said that He was going to deliver them from their affliction. And He said that He wanted Moses to lead them out of Egypt.

But Moses wasn’t so sure.

So he gave an excuse, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

So God gave Moses a sign…

But Moses had another excuse, “But what if they ask who You are? Who should I say sent me?”

God answered that Moses should answer saying “I AM WHO I AM has sent me.”

But Moses had more excuses, “Suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The LORD has not appeared to you.” “I’m a stutterer”

Moses heard God’s call, but he had excuses. He didn’t see himself as qualified.

God has a unique calling for each of us — for you! So what is your excuse? Do you see yourself as unqualified? Do you see your failures and believe that you are incapable of doing anything for God? Or do you find your identity in who God is?

So in answering to Moses questions about his qualifications, God starts with something Moses does know.

He asks, “What is in your hand?”

That’s an easy question for Moses. Obviously it’s his rod.

God commands Moses to throw it on the ground — another easy request. Moses does and it becomes a snake. Then he is told to pick it up by the tail and it becomes his rod again.

Then God says, “that they may believe that the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has appeared to you.”

God says ‘Use what’s in your hand, Moses. That’s how I’ll prove I am God. That’s how I’ll part the Red Sea, so that you may flee the Egyptians. That’s how I’ll give you water in the wilderness. That’s how I’ll lead you out of Egypt. That’s how I’ll use you.’

God’s Calling

Moses had heard God’s calling for his life, but he had some questions. He didn’t think he was qualified. He didn’t see why God would choose him when he was such a failure.

But God chose to use him anyway.

God has a unique calling for EVERYONE. Yes, that includes you, my friend.

You may feel unqualified.

You may have excuses.

But to you God asks, “what’s in your hand?”

God has given you talents and gifts for a purpose. Use them for Him!

Not on your own strength. Moses tried that and we saw how that worked for him — it’s what brought him to the wilderness in the first place. But with God’s help, do what God has called you to do.

Princess, even if you don’t think you have anything in your hand, give your life to Him. Let Him mold you into the woman He wants you to be. Surrender to Him!

See yourself in light of who He is not, not in light of your failures.

Princess, I hope that you use what’s in your hand to do the work that God has called you to! โค๏ธ

Surrender to Him!

Persistence and Prayer — Part Three of A Biblical Series on Prayer

Once upon a time, there was a woman whose daughter was being oppressed — by a demon. Naturally, the mother was terribly distraught by her daughter’s suffering. Yet she could find no way to help her.

Until someone special came to town. This Man was not from this region, nor was His work to be completed here, but He was prominent even here, known for performing healings and even claiming to be God’s Son.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask!!! — Part Two of A Biblical Series on Prayer.

Hello Princess!!

I know it! It can be VERY hard to ask for help. When I need help on some school or project, it usually takes me A LOT of frustration before I finally ask for assistance. It would save so much time, effort, and frustration if, when I had a problem, I would just ask for some help immediately, rather than getting grumpy and frustrated.

But, alas, I never seem too. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

But guess what? Your teachers or parents or friends would (usually) be most happy to help you through your problem. But our pride always seems to get it in the way, doesn’t it?

Overcoming Doubt

Hi princess!

I have a quick question for you. Who is God? I’m sure you can come up with a pretty nice list:

He is a loving Father.

A Perfect Friend.

He’s merciful, just, a refuge, patient, and forgiving.

Another question, did those answers come from your head or your heart?

Sometimes those answers are easy to say but not so easy to feel, to know in your heart. I say this from experience. Sometimes God manifests Himself to you so clearly that His presence is just as obvious as the fact that you’re sitting in front of a computer right now. But other times, He seems kind of distant.

I donโ€™t know about you, princess, but my personality type is one that is pretty much (is definitely) a people-pleaser. As what everyone else is doing is morally fine, Iโ€™ll do it too! And have a blast at it!! But that also means that I have a hard time saying no to people โ€”and opportunities.

That means I sign myself up for a lot of things that maybe donโ€™t quite (or more accurately, donโ€™t) align myself with my long-term goals.

Change Your Thoughts to Change Your Destiny

You have a VERY powerful mind!!

Yes, princess, you do!

Your mind not only has an incredible ability to generate and process thoughts, but it’s power reaches into your very soul. In fact, it is part of your soul!

Think about that!

Yes, it’s true that your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions. Your actions form your habits. And your habits determine your destiny. Yet the ramifications of your thoughts reach even deeper than even that! They reach into your soul, so that if you have “poisonous thinking you will not be able to detect the leading of Gods Spirit” (Priscilla Shirer, in her amazing Bible study ‘The Armor of God’)

You Are More Than You Say You Are, Princess!

I donโ€™t know about you, but I tend to do a lot of really stupid things (Just ask my siblings, it’s not a rare occurrence). It could be a dumb question, some really stupid action, or anything in between. But as soon as I do it, Iโ€™ll feel like a dumbbell, that Iโ€™m incapable of doing anything useful or helpful in life, and that Iโ€™ll never amount to much of anything. And Iโ€™ll tell myself that over and over and over.

But there’s a problem with that. It’s not true.

May the Peace Be with You

Does it wear you out too? All the bickering, complaining, arguing, fighting that goes on in the world? Whether itโ€™s between siblings, friends, organizations, or any one else, there is nothing that wears me out more, that contention. Disunity. Ugh… it just WEARS. ME. OUT.ย

But maybe thereโ€™s a reason that itโ€™s that way. Perhaps itโ€™s cuz we have an enemy. Maybe, just maybe, itโ€™s because we were created for something much greater than what this world had to offer. Greater than the unrest. The disunity. The contention.

Yes, princess, itโ€™s true. Weโ€™re in a war. A war for the very souls of each and every person. As princesses of the Most High King, we are a light to this very lost world. Theyโ€™re watching us.
And thatโ€™s why we are to be peacemakers.

We are going to throw peace around like confetti.

But how do we actually make peace?

Iโ€™ve gotta admit, I am not always the best at creating a peaceful environment (just ask my siblings about that). In fact, Iโ€™m writing this cuz I need to hear itโ€”and practice it!

Despite that, I do know that in order to create peace you must first have peace inside of you. But, sister, an inner rest no matter your circumstances is only possible through Jesus.

He says to rejoice, pray without ceasing. And then He will give us a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Not only that, but He also tells us to let the peace of God rule our lives. The word that He uses for rule can be translated umpireโ€”let peace umpire your life. If something seems unreasonable but you have an inexplainable sense of peace about it, you can know that that is what you are to do.

Yes, princess, God gives you the tools to accept His generous gift of perfect peace that you are to shower on those around you. That, my friend, will not go unnoticed. That will be a powerful witness to those around you.

Despite all the chaos around us, we will create a center of peace.

May the peace be with you, princess!

Love in Christ,

Happy Independence Day!!!!

Happy Independence Day, princess!!!!! ๐ŸŽŠ๐ŸŽ†

I love Independence Day so I thought I’d share something a bit different and special for it: Ideas for keeping cool this summer.

-Make some new/fun treat.ย

Summer is the perfect excuse for making your favorite refreshing orange sorbet (I love this one) or a nice iced tea. Ooooh, a nice mint chocolate milkshake would really do the trick! What a treat!!! Make it better, invite a friend to enjoy it with.ย

-Water sports

Itโ€™s a classic, but for good reason.ย  Whether itโ€™s going swimming in your own pool, a friendโ€™s, or even at a local community pool, itโ€™s a great way to get some exercise, fresh air, and fun!! If you’re not a fan of swimming, thereโ€™s always the classic water ballon fight or the good ole hand dandy spray bottle (which I sometimes like to carry around to spray myself with… and occasionally I’ll spray my siblings with it).ย

-Drink Waterโ€” lots of it!! ๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง๐Ÿ’ง

Are you ready for breaking news?? Water is essential for all human life. ๐ŸคญShocking, I know. If you donโ€™t like drinking water plain, try putting in some ice and lemon (or other citrus, cucumber, peach, or combinations of different fruits.). But seriously, the more water you drink, the better youโ€™ll feel, especially in the summer heat.ย

-Sleep outside

Fresh air is soooo good for you, but its usually too hot to do anything outside during the day. So instead sleep outside! Curl up comfy in a hammock or a trampoline!

-Host a party

Bring some friends over and have a BLAST!! Make some pretty invitations, plan some activities, make some goodies, and HAVE FUN!! You’ll be talking about it for weeks!

-Learn an instrument

Put some time into learning or refining your musical abilities with whatever instrument you enjoy most. It’s a wonderful way to make use of your summer while staying cool.

-Take up a new hobby.

Whether it’s hand lettering, bullet journaling, blogging, photography, or anything else, its also a good way to enjoy your summer.

-Call a friend.

Though many places are still in quarantine, it’s important (and fun) to stay up to date with your friends. Make a phone call, or better yet, write a letter to your good ole pal.

So princess, which idea did you like best? Which ones did you do? How else do you keep cool during the summer?

Love in Christ,
