So you want to eavesdrop on my journal?? Well, although the blog’s been a bit quiet lately, my life has not! Between VBS; a week-long road trip with my sister and some great friends; and busy life, there’s a lot to cover.
So today I’ll let you eavesdrop on the more important side of my journal — that is, the insights that God has given me during my time studying His Word! 😊
- The Most Holy Offering
In the early chapters of Leviticus, it is explained how each type of sacrifice is to be offered. I found one particularly interesting: the grain offering. It is described as the most holy offering. This arose my curiosity, so I looked it up. Grain was in rather short supply while the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness. To sacrifice it would have signaled complete dependence on God.
God doesn’t want your sacrifices. He wants your heart. He wants you to depend on Him. Fully. He wants you to live your life as a sacrifice for Him. (Romans 12:1)
- A Barren Land Is a Holy Place?
Certainly you’ve heard to story of Moses and the Burning Bush. Well, in it, God tells Moses to take off his shoes because he was standing on holy ground. But where was Moses? In the middle of a desert!
So what made that desert ground holy?
It was because God was there.
- An Accurate Angle
Psalm 73. Ooh, how I’ve come to love it!
It begins as the author is noticing the wealth of all the perverse people around him and noticing that his life is not quite so luxurious. He even becomes a bit envious and is overwhelmed when he would think of it. “Until,” the Psalmist writes, “I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.”
Then he realizes that the wicked really aren’t prospering the way they seem. They will come to destruction. He realizes that they’re nothing sweeter than walking with God and letting Him guide you.
When it seems like all the wicked are thriving and you’re barely surviving, remember the psalmist.
He felt the same way… until he found an accurate angle when he came into God’s presence. The one who is in God’s presence, who serves him, is the one who has it off better. The wicked will be destroyed, but to walk with the Lord is sweet!
Wherever God is present, there is holy ground. Even if you’re in a desert season, if you’re in God’s presence, you will be standing on holy ground.
- Be Found Doing
This kind of goes without saying, but it’s good for me to remember to always be ready. To be vigilant. To be living God’s Word, not merely hearing it. If Jesus came back right now, would I be found serving Him?
Now that you’ve seen some of the contents of my journal, so what’s in yours? 🙂 What has God been teaching you? What have you been up to? We’d love to hear what’s going on in your life!
I hope you have a wonderful day, Princess! ❤️
