Don’t Be Afraid to Ask!!! — Part Two of A Biblical Series on Prayer.

Hello Princess!!

I know it! It can be VERY hard to ask for help. When I need help on some school or project, it usually takes me A LOT of frustration before I finally ask for assistance. It would save so much time, effort, and frustration if, when I had a problem, I would just ask for some help immediately, rather than getting grumpy and frustrated.

But, alas, I never seem too. šŸ˜¦

But guess what? Your teachers or parents or friends would (usually) be most happy to help you through your problem. But our pride always seems to get it in the way, doesn’t it?

Well, it’s not just your parents or friends that are available for you, your Heavenly Father is also ALWAYS, 100% of the time available to talk to you.

He’s more than willing to talk to you, to listen to you. He’s always there for you. But He won’t force you to do talk to Him (pray)… but when you’re ready, when you’ve got to your rope’s end, He’s always ready to talk. So just ask.

Just ask!

You can ask for His help. You can ask for healing. You can literally ask for anything!

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, let your requests be made known to God.” — Philippians 4:6

Talk to God freely, as you would your father. Because He is your Father. A gracious Father. As pastor Ben Courson says, “God is more willing to give, than you are to ask.”

If your request seems so outlandishly gargantuas, then guess what? That’s the perfect size for your Father because nothing is too hard for Him.

There is an account in the book of Mark, where Jesus asks His followers, ‘If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fist? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?’ Then He concludes, ‘If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to Him who asks.”

In the time of Jesus, an egg was considered luxurious. Only the very richest could afford them. Yet if your son asks for one, would you offer him a scorpion? No! A father, even in this evil world, would not do that!

How much more generous is our Good Father! When Matthew writes of this event, he records the ending as Jesus saying:

“If you, then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” — Matthew 7:11

My friend, don’t be afraid to ask! He is so so generous!

God has given you His very Son! Do you think He would withhold anything else?

“He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with him graciously give us all things?” — Romans 8:32

Princess, it is not a lack of faith to not ask. In fact, asking can be a symbol of faith. So ask! Don’t be afraid!

I know that I, for one, could ask a bit (lot) sooner and a bit (a ton) more often!

I hope this encourages you to be more bold in your requests, knowing that your Father is not stingy, but that He is EXTREMELY GENEROUS!!!!
